Neuroinflammation in Epilepsy—Diagnostics and Therapeutic Perspectives

چکیده
Abstract Epilepsy is a neurological disease that affects approximately 1% of the world’s population. characterized by occurrence repeated epileptic seizures due to abnormal neuronal activity. Although this disorder currently incurable, it can be controlled for years with appropriate therapy and patient adherence. Inflammation an organism’s natural response pathological stimulus, aimed at eliminating triggering factor. Multiple studies point out significant correlation between increased level inflammatory mediators frequency seizures. Increased levels IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IFN-γ, TNF-α were found in serum patients epilepsy. Additionally, pro-inflammatory cytokines upregulated during activity rodents: CCL2 CCR2 receptor expression was shown inflammation induced lipopolysaccharide administration, CXCR5 primarily brain cells. Early detection described factors may serve as biomarker epilepsy but also hold potential developing novel immunomodulating therapies. Thus, better understanding immune system’s involvement necessary development new therapeutic perspectives

Sterile Neuroinflammation and Strategies for Therapeutic Intervention
Sterile neuroinflammation is essential for the proper brain development and tissue repair. However, uncontrolled neuroinflammation plays a major role in the pathogenesis of various disease processes. The endogenous intracellular molecules so called damage-associated molecular patterns or alarmins or damage signals that are released by activated or necrotic cells are thought to play a crucial ro...
متن کاملP 115: Potential Therapeutic Targets Related to Neuroinflammation in Treatment and Prevention of Autism
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a mental condition, present from early childhood, characterized by great difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with others and using language. In the last four decades many studies have shown that immune responses in different regions of brain play an important role in ASD pathogenicity. A conservative estimate based on the research suggests tha...
متن کاملNovel Therapeutic Targets in Neuroinflammation and Neuropathic Pain.
There is abounding evidence that neuroinflammation plays a major role in the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration and neuropathic pain. Chemokine-induced recruitment of peripheral immune cells is a central feature in inflammatory neurodegenerative disorders. Immune cells, glial cells and neurons constitute an integral network that coordinates the immune response by releasing inflammatory mediators...
متن کاملP 138: Improving Neuroplasticity Through Neuroinflammation Pathways as a Therapeutic Goal in the Treatment of Autism
Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. Neuroplasticity allows the neurons in the brain to compensate injury and disease and to adjust their activities in response to new situations or to changes in their environment. At the other side, it is now well established that neuronal function is strongly influenced by both central ...
